The Haematology Association of Ireland Nurses Group was launched in October 2000 at the Haematology Association of Ireland Annual General meeting and Conference in Bunratty Co Clare.

The group of nurses at the launch were from both Northern Ireland and the Republic and all had an interest in Haematology nursing either in adult or paediatric practice.

The aim of the association is to provide a forum for exchange of information for members of the nursing profession who care for people with haematological disorders.

At the first meeting a committee was formed. The committee has a chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, treasurer and eight general members. The constitution of the group was documented and has since been reviewed.
